Kamilah is a young, vibrant 40 + year old woman who has been inspired to cook from the tender age of 8 and began her cooking journey at the age of 9. She learned from her mother, who is of Jamaican descent where Kamilah was also born before coming to the United States in 1979. She grew up watching and learning her first culinary skills from her mom; and took on the joy of cooking which became more than a chore but a true passion. She never thought that her life's journey would take her through different adventures to find herself back to what she always had in her heart from childhood to do. Kamilah has taken a few paths to get her to the enrichment that being a culinary chef has given her. She took courses in college for various majors but none seemed to end up being the final one that felt right. After almost 12 years Kamilah finally decided to take on her dream of being a professional culinary chef at Hudson County Community College, where she thrived; and has now graduated as certified chef in the state of New Jersey. Her cooking skills were able to be enhanced while at Hudson. She has done numerous catering events over the years and was able to take on additional skills. Enhancing her craft has made Kamilah's versatile cuisine even more invigorating to enjoy. As a Chef Kamilah has worked as a line cook with Legends Hospitality and as a banquet cook for Heart of the House Hospitality. She has grown tremendously. She has been a leader in the kitchen and was entrusted with tasks due to her exceptional attention to detail in preparing and serving dishes with excellence. Kamilah states and believes that "whatever is in your heart comes out in your food. There is a difference between cooking and the desire to cook. When you do it with love it shows and it's also tasted, therefore a happy chef makes happy pallets"!On this amazing journey Kamilah is now the business owner of KaMMar Royal Cuisine, LLC in New Jersey. Catering to small and large events is a major part of her business along with facilitating cooking classes consisting of Caribbean, Latin, American and other cultural cuisines around the world. Further down the road, Kamilah plans to incorporate a food truck to take KaMMar Royal Cuisine on mobile travel along the east coast and open a small take out restaurant. Kamilah has dedicated her journey not just for cooking but for her 2 children who she is building a legacy to share with them and pass on. She is a single mom that has worked hard to get to this time in her life. She is determined to make her dreams and goals reality to keep moving forward to greater endeavors.
