The Old Man and His Xylophone Onyinye Udeh
The Old Man and His Xylophone
Onyinye Udeh
The Old Man and His Xylophone is a short story of a father's undying love. Mazi Ogom Iloha was torn with grief and despair as he helplessly watched his son, Ikem, drift farther and farther away from life. The lifestyle choices Ikem made from a young age put him on the path of certain death in adulthood. When death finally struck, instead of immersing his spirit in sorrow, Mazi Iloha chose to heal his wounded soul-and those of the villagers-through his gift of playing the xylophone.
