Lost Meaning of Time
Cynthia E Clark
Sleep. Yes. That is what I needed. Plenty of sleep. I had not meant to sleep, not as deeply as I had anyway. I was in and out. In the distance, I heard a noise. Was that in my sleep or was awake? Was that dreaming or was it real? Something shook me. "Wake up, wake up. You need to move, now." I did not know what it was or who it was. I could see a shadow, a light shadow, but that was it. That was all that was there. It was urgent though. I knew I needed to follow the advice it gave, but where? Where can I move to? "Get up, move. Get up move. Go." And I did. I was somewhere between asleep and awake, but I knew that the voice was right. I needed to move, that I had to go. I did not know which direction to go but it was like I was being pushed. It was a little push, not a lot. Just a nudge. I was nudged into a small corner. I tripped and when I did, I fell into a wall. I did not fall on the ground but into a wall. I did not get hurt but I felt the wall give just a little bit, and I pushed more and more. The wall finally opened into a secret room. That was it. I think that was where I needed to be.
