Thomas Tod Stoddart wrote his classic book Angler's Rambles and Angling Songs in 1866 and this has inspired anglers for generations.

This is all exciting fishing - but behind the 'casting and catching' there is a back-story for the 'thinking angler' - the people, places, history and a wee bit of science - which make it all possible.

The author has 'rambled' around Scotland's salmon and trout fisheries for more than 70 years - fishing, meeting, conserving, managing and writing about them. This book emphasises that "There is more to fishing than catching fish".

He takes the reader from the Tweed to the Orkneys; from the Hebrides to Angus - to meet some of the people, places and conservation projects behind Scotland's trout and salmon fisheries.
