Don't bring unwanted attention to yourself, unless that's what you want.
Eujean "Deejay" Hendricks has a system to deal with the psych ward situation he came from. Utilizing the diaries of Virginia Woolf, Sylvia Plath, and media entertainment connections, he finds comfort in them to make sense of the world and hide from what really bothers him: his Tourette Syndrome diagnosis, a significant source for his low self-esteem. His system attracts the mysterious Suzette whose strutting toward him one summer's night in Atlanta, Georgia when he is out on a walk literally stops traffic and passes right through his defenses.
After that encounter, he loses the apartment, his girlfriend Evelyn begins to avoid him, and this system breaks down, revealing deep-seated paranoia and power struggles he would rather run away from than face. This all draws the attention of Suzette's vindictive boyfriend Chad, who carries his own problems that reflect Deejay's, the "Man with the Silver Hair," and the mysterious giants who all begin to show up in unexpected places after Deejay and Evelyn move to the suburb of Hyaline outside Atlanta.
While struggling with these mounting changes and tensions, Deejay will have to face some tough realizations about his own behavior, or his very systems to cope may bring him down in the end.
