In this instructional release acclaimed percussionist Phil Maturano teaches novice drummers to play the fundamental rhythms of two different styles of Afro-Cuban jazz percussion. The program commences with on-camera illustrations of the various rhythms as played out on drumsets, and then teaches each viewer/participant how to fluidly incorporate those rhythms into his or her own performances. Instruction is accompanied by on-camera close-ups and detailed explanation of each pattern.
