Historical horror directed by Rowland V. Lee starring Basil Rathbone and Boris Karloff. In 15th-century England, the power-hungry Richard, Duke of Gloucester (Rathbone), loyally assisted by his club-footed executioner Mord (Karloff), systematically gets rid of anyone who precedes him in the line to the throne, which is currently occupied by his brother King Edward IV (Ian Hunter).
As he orchestrates his ascent to the throne, the Tower of London becomes a nest of horrible torture rooms populated by Richard's enemies.
