Incident At Lajitas
Jack R Stanley
Former Texas Ranger Clay Maxwell wanted nothing more than to be left alone to live his life in Del Rio, Texas. He was tired of doing other men's dirty work and killing every young gunslinger looking to make a name for himself. Nothing, Maxwell claims, can get him to go back to doing what he does best. When Lord Wilford Bristol's prize stallion, Trafalgar, the result of careful crossbreeding between the best of Europe's thoroughbreds and the mustangs of the American West, is stolen by Mexican Comancheros, Maxwell's answer to retrieving the horse was, "No." The English transplant was able to convince Maxwell to do this one last job. But the terms of their agreement are a secret. Maxwell got a group of hardened professionals together, and they cross the Rio Grande. These men, along with Lord Bristol's foreman, Tom Kelso, were the only men who'd agree to go into hell to get back the animal.
