Nicholas Freeman has gained a close personal relationship with Jehovah, Jesus, and his spiritual teacher, Sophia, the mysterious Blue Lady, but in doing so, he has lost a lot of things along the way, like his family, his home, and almost all of his friends. Nicholas has temporarily found the other half of his soul, and he has been reminded of what a powerful force real Love is. However, circumstances beyond his control are trying to intervene and tear their engagement asunder. The Blue Lady teaches him about Didymus Judas Thomas, a previous incarnation of Ophan, and how Thomas is grossly misunderstood by the world at large today. With each metaphoric step closer to the Source of the Light, the darkness within the people that he is surrounded by, and the darkness within the spiritual world around him continue to assault him in disturbing and unexpected ways in order to keep him from advancing. Why Nicholas is the special target of such intense and relentless spiritual resistance from Lucifer and his minions is mostly a mystery to him. Surely his present life, his last incarnated life, shouldn't be causing enough of a disturbance in the grand scheme of things to merit the negative attention that he is receiving. The Blue Lady leads him on, but she is oddly reticent about where his destiny will end up taking him, and what he is expected to do once he gets there. It appears that the darkness is bound and determined to keep Nicholas and Angela apart, at any cost.
