Viola makes a bad marriage and returns home to live with her mother and teach school in Georgia. She takes classes at the university and is promoted until she becomes principal for a large comprhensive schoo with classes K-12. After her cousin dies, she becomes friend to her cousin's husband. Their courtship is difficult where she lives so they enjoy places of interest together. They make friends with a couple at Jekyll Island where they go to enjoy blue grass music.
