SUM-ACTION NUMBER PUZZLES-SUBTRACTION BOOK is a collection of 27 subtraction search puzzles designed to accomplish several things...(1) create student interest in basic subtraction facts in the primary grades 1-3, (2) provide worksheets with interesting basic subtraction practice/drill and (3) at the same time make leaning mathematics challenging and fun. SUM-ACTION SUBTRACTION PUZZLES are very much like the common word search puzzles but with one main difference...replacing letters with numerals. Each puzzle has an assigned difference or in some cases just looking for 3 numbers that create a subtraction equation. Each puzzle has a given number of patterns in the array of numerals. The assigned patterns are several in nature...horizontal, vertical, diagonal and in some cases a combination of several patterns. Puzzle may or may not have overlapping patters. Check HOW TO SOLVE page for diagrams for some of the assigned patterns. Puzzles vary in degree of difficulty...it is important to do your best to find all of the assigned patterns. Encourage students to think logically as they search for the equations as basic reasoning is essential to success in math. Each and every puzzle has a number that indicates how many subtraction patterns are to be found in the array of numbers.
