This New Adult and College story takes place in the northwest Washington town of Evergreen, situated on the shore of Lake Geneva with views of the Olympic mountains and Puget Sound to the west and the Cascade mountains to the east. Evergreen is populated by a variety of individuals, the first group of whom we meet in this story with a slightly old-fashioned bent. Jane is in the midst of recovering from two catastrophes: having to quit college following her mother's death, and the need to find a job that will pay her enough so she can return to college.Chet Barton is not someone she anticipates she would ever figure in her life. He is the younger son of one of the richest men in town and a bad boy, as evidenced by his prior behavior in town and at Whitman College, before he was asked to leave. Family means everything to Jane precisely because hers is so different from her friends'. Family has other meanings for Chet. How this young couple come to a deeper understanding of the linkages between blood and relationships is at the heart of this story that ends with an unexpected twist.
