Jack Wainwright, newly returned from World War I, must now face his new status as the heir to his family and to their ancestral estate. He must learn to stand in another's shoes and accept the responsibilities that fall to him as Viscount of his family's ancestral title. Neighboring long time friend Deidre Emerson-Smyth shares a similar problem. Although she is unable to inherit the title from her late brother, she has inherited the day to day operations of her family's estate. Together Jack and Deidre must forge a new life in the ashes of World War I. Along the way, there are unseen and unknown threats that may impede their happiness and the future of their family. They vow to accept their new responsibilities and to stand in another's shoes.
