This is the story of Blackfoot Murphy and his son Andrew as well as the story of WilliamMadison and his son Patrick. One family from the South and one family from the Northin the years leading up to and during the Mexican-American war and through thetumultuous period leading up to the Civil War. Blackfoot, part Native American, owns theplantation "Oak Alley". Follow the families as they grow and adapt to changing times anddeal with the adversity of a country that is still forming and coming to terms with itsmoral responsibilities.
