Cibiana and Valle di Cadore are two pretty little towns of Veneto (Italy) that conjoin themselves at sight, but the first lives far away, immersed in its old world, while Valle is allowing to attract, even with slow belief, from the modern decorum. Cibiana closes itself between the steep slopes of its mountains and among them preserves with daily exertion its streets, winding and tired, and its dark abodes, inserted each other as woven wooden cages. Valle, open for centuries to the easy transit of people, has known how to resist with dignity, but doesn't yield yet to the civilized designs which want to assail it so angrily. Hard to believe that there could be so open spaces in happy harmony with the mountain soul preserved by its ancient villages.
