Val was arrested on the day of her husband Gerry's funeral. That same night her youngest son Jack, and her pregnant daughter in law Kathy were murdered. Now she has been released and everything has changed. The family moved after she went inside, so it wasn't her familiar home that she came out to. Her eldest son Jimmy is running the firm, but most of his focus is on tracking down the murderers of his wife and unborn child. Her granddaughter Poppy is rapidly spiraling out of control. She now has a young son named Gerry after his great grandfather, but she still behaves as though she has no responsibilities. Although the family would like Poppy to take a more hands on role with her son, they are alarmed when she suddenly tells them she is moving in with a man they don't know. Worried for little Gerry's safety they discreetly keep an eye on her. Poppy's dad Phillip and her uncle Jimmy are trying to find out the man's identity, and when they do they are forced to act quickly because he is a danger to both Poppy and her son.
