Hermann is a Crabb, that is, a citizen of the planet Creche. Graduating from school, Hermann and friends face an uncertain future. While chasing jousting glory, they get drawn into a fight between a terrorist organization and a powerful worldwide computer network called the Triumvirate. After analyzing violent battlefield reports from the First World War on Earth, the Triumvirate thinks it might just have a solution to its problems.
