When alien sharks wipe out a colony, fourteen-year-old Anacine is brought back to join the Junior Rangers. On the current mission to a gas-giant planet, colonists find life on floating shelves of vegetation. Swept away in the winds, Junior Rangers make contact with an intelligent native species called teardrops.
