Logline: An ex-surfing pro, now hapless and obese, inherits the family business and becomes a genie, along with all the pitfalls of having unlimited powers that come with it. Synopsis: Dumped by his model ex-girlfriend for the host of Miss America, Steve Harvey, the one-time pride of Hawaii, Jimmy Coogan, has fallen from surfing greatness and plummeted to the bottom of Doritos chip bags and overly stuffed hoagies. His only saving-grace is his best friend and confidant, Cynthia, and his ongoing love for the sport of surfing. Unexpectedly, Jimmy's world is turned upside down when his long-time absent father, believed to be dead, arrives on the scene bearing shocking news. He is in town for the "transference", the process of transferring ancient and magical powers to his progeny, Jimmy. In forty-eight hours, Jimmy will become a genie, or "jinn" as his father explains. Along with these powers come a set of very rigid rules that must be followed to the letter or else face the wrath of The Grand Desert Spirit, the overseer and keeper of the ancient magic. Things are rocky from the outset and Jimmy struggles to play by the rules. Racked with buried feelings of resentment and insecurity along with the persistent harassment from his arch-nemesis, Kyle, a blonde-Mohawk-haired, alpha-male surfing goon who challenges Jimmy to a surf-off to once and for all settle their long-running rivalry, and it is not long before Jimmy falters and misuses his powers, incurring the ire of the Grand Desert Spirit as a result. Thankfully, Cynthia is there to catch Jimmy when he falls but she becomes increasingly frustrated that her growing feelings for Jimmy are going unrequited. Unheeded warnings about the power of a genie's magic, increasing hostility from Cynthia and relentless tenacity from Kyle, who on the verge of uncovering Jimmy's secret, concocts a life-threatening sabotage for the surf-off day of competition, culminate in the showdown to end all showdowns...until The Grand Desert Spirit shows up that is, then Jimmy's problems have just begun.
