A young girl and her little sister, abandoned by their parents, are kidnapped by a cold-blooded killer when their wagon train is viciously attacked and destroyed by desperadoes. Dragged behind his horse like worthless animals and forced to wear a dead man's clothes, her fears and nightmares fill with horrifying thoughts of what this man called the devil intends to do to them. Overwhelmed, fear fills her every move and decision. Strangely, their only hope or worst nightmare may be a soldier thrown into a civilian world filled with ambiguity with little structure or purpose. Riding aimlessly through the west, others blame him for the evil they do, frightened by the unexplained.
