PTSD Bethesda - A One Act Play Acie Cargill
PTSD Bethesda - A One Act Play
Acie Cargill
Thousands of soldiers been affected by PTSD after experiencing extreme emotional trauma, usually during wars. This play is about a soldier in Iraq who returned with PTSD and is being treated in Bethesda Military Hospital. The play examines his psychotherapy and group therapy and his own self-evaluation. There is currently no treatment that is always effective. Usually the patients are heavily medicated with psychoactive drugs which give temporary relief of some of the symptoms, but they do no result in a cure for the condition. That requires therapy with words and that is not always effective either. This play is about one marine's fight with PTSD and hopefully with a positive outcome so he can re-enter civilian life, a return to normalcy.
