In this first volume of "Food for the Journey: the Biblical Roots of the La Salette Message,", Our Weeping Mother of La Salette teaches us, with the help of Fr. Theroux's Meditations, how to cope "well with life and its tough problems", and how to live our faith with the strength and hope that only God can give.
Our Journey of Faith: Fr. Theroux poignantly explains that "caring for people brings its share of both joy and pain"- a pain born of love. And out of that deep love for her people, Our Lady of La Salette visits us and first shares with us her powerful "flow of tears that flood her heart and cannot be held back".
Her Tears: At La Salette, Mary's tears are a trait that not only makes the Apparition of La Salette the most singular and biblicalof the major Marian apparitions; her tears are also a key to understanding the message she brings to Maximin and Meanieand truly to all her people.
Her Son: Fr. Theroux states that: "Mary at La Salette came to imitate her Son in what he had done and to share his mission... She revealed... that in some mysterious way, God (also) grieves and weeps for his people. It is nothing less than stirring to see that at La Salette, the Lord wanted to let us know that God, indeed, is caring for his people to the point of tears."
Our Mission: Fr. Theroux concludes by saying: "At La Salette, Mary said, 'Well, my children, you will make it known to all my people.' By the ministry of Maximin and Melanie, her words would stir the Church but go beyond it to the whole world. The entire world is thus called to faith and life."
