End of the Pier: And Other Flash Fiction John Corral

There are few feel-good moments in these pieces of literature. Virtually nothing is resolved. And no one gets to live happily ever after. Instead, this is a collection of slices of life, often uncomfortable, sometimes painful, but more often surprising and eye-opening. There is also death, which is a part of life, misery, abandonment, lapses of faith, and violence to body and spirit. Like keyholes to rooms in the house of life, they are glimpses only of larger stories and truths. Each one could be its own novel, its own troubling little film. But the essence is there in brief clarity of the moment. These stories may be small, but they pack a punch.
