"The Accountant" is a completed 80,908-word Mystery that begins with the arrival of an accountant at a small local police station. That initial meeting between the police and an accountant would lead the National Crime Authority (NCA) into a worldwide investigation. This was compounded by supplemental crimes that came to their attention during the investigation.

An accountant with a conscience lead the police across many financial mine fields. By intuitive detection and sheer hard work the National Crime Authority (NCA) detectives start to piece together how this complex web of intrigue was formed and how the high level people in Government and manufacturing used government agencies to their advantage.

This case seemed perfectly straight forward until the NCA investigated further and realized that this crime, while major, was just the tip of the iceberg. They discovered that another crime within the crime had been committed.

As the case evolved, the police were faced with yet a separate exploitation case involving rogue estate and liquidation Antique sales people who were exploiting the old and helpless. Elderly couples would see their whole life's savings and treasured possessions disappear in fraudulent estate agent deals. They saw their high value goods being sold in miniature auctions to preferred fine arts dealers. Then their remaining possessions were seen as trash. The estate people then informed the elderly couples that all their possessions, apart from the expensive goods, were to be taken by removal people to charity sites and the rubbish dump at a cost to the client. It was the tragedy for many elderly people that motivated the NCA detectives to undertake and bring justice for those vulnerable people.

As with many of their previous cases, it wasn't until the NCA was investigating the high profile cases and as they delved deeper into the crimes that they realized how the related crimes impacted many people. How when these crimes when solved they could generate such intense feelings in the general population. This was especially so when high profile people were shown to be not only fraudulent but deeply corrupt as well.
